Login Multiple devices with QR codes

I just went thru a flawless and impecable UI flow from Uber Eats.

It all started with an email campaign that mentioned the “biggest sale” of the year. It mentioned a 3-month free trial for one of the services, Uber One, which I know it’s something they have been trying to sell me for a while.

Since 3 months is enough time to test their service I clicked the button from the mail campaign, and that’s then it started: one of the best flows I’ve experienced as a user.

The first problem for them was that I was on a computer where I’m not logged in, so they offered either email/password or Google/Apple/Facebook buttons, but then a 5th option was offered: Log in with QR code.

The whole experience was pretty neat: I scanned a QR with my phone (no need to open the Uber app, just the camera), and that lead me to the Uber app showing me a list of credit cards and asking me which one I wanted to use for the subscription.

Once I picked the subscription plan, it mentioned that “there was another device near me, in San José, Costa Rica” and offered me the option to log in, which I, with curiosity, accepted.

Immediatelly after hitting that button on my phone, the tab that I had opened in my computer from the mail campaign started to reload, and just like magic I was logged in on the browser as well, which I had never done before.

Now they have not only my money but also a bunch of cookies from my browser and a happy customer as well.
