For our family vacations last week we went to Sámara, located in the Pacific coast of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The place used to be visited by advanced surfers, but after an earthquake in 2012 the coral reef was moved up, replacing the violent waves with a nice spot for children to enjoy a calm sea, that’s why we chose it.
Right after we arrived we noticed there was a small island maybe 1.5km distance from the coast, and we learned that they offered tours in boat or kayak to visit it and spend a few hours there.
So we took the boat tour and went there with the kids. Exploring the island didn’t take too much because it’s quite small, although more adventurous people could walk around it, maybe. We also had a delicious and sweet pineapple and watermelon offered by the tour company, and did some snorkeling for the first time.
We got to see a turtle (I didn’t know they were so big!), tons of fish of different colors and, from the ground, we saw 3 whales that were passing by deep in the ocean, like 1km away from us.
The place it’s called Isla Chora, will definitely visit again.
