Turns out the misterious plant was just some sort of wild banana.
Probably got here thru a bird.
Once the fruit is ripe it opens up and it’s sweet just like a normal banana but with a lot of seeds and almost no fruity body.
I cut off most of it because it was expanding like crazy, but I like the color so will probably leave 1 or 2 stems.
