Last Monday, Dec 1st, we celebrated Army Abolition Day here in Costa Rica.
We took this as an opportunity to make a weekend trip to the beach, which the kids have been eagerly asking for.
This time, we chose a beach we hadn’t visited before, and honestly, I had never heard of it. The reason we picked Playa Bejuco was its low price for a location right on the beach. I hate driving from the cabin to the beach, so having the sand just across the street was a big plus.
To my surprise, I wasn’t the only one unaware of this place; the beach was pretty much empty all weekend. Other spots like Playa Hermosa, Manuel Antonio, Uvita, or Guanacaste were crowded, but this place? It was just for us.
The sea is supposed to be dangerous, but we stayed in the lower areas. There’s also this estuary about 15 minutes away that we all really enjoyed. I was a little cautious when we arrived, afraid of an alligator, but since there were other families around, I kind of relaxed.
And the sunsets! Best I’ve seen in a while. We even got a small fireworks display on our first night!
Definitely visiting again:
