I’ve been a long time fan of Irish music. Around mid-2025, after a few beers with some friends, we said we were gonna go celebrate St Paddy’s at Boston next year.
And that’s what we did!
Beyond the pubs and the sessions, here are some highlights of the trip:
- The tour to the Samuel Adams Brewery, especially the A Lotta Horchata beer.
- Cannoli from Modern Pastry in the North End.
- Getting to know Pat Bartevian, a 102-year-old woman with plenty of stories to share.
- Beautiful architecture everywhere you looked.
- Getting to see a Boston Dynamics Spot robot in action (Museum of Science)
- Pizza from American Flatbred, it was just perfect. Also a nice place to play bowling.
- Irish breakfast! :chefkiss:

Now, the reason for the trip was, of course, the music and the sessions. One of my friends, Norman, has been to Boston 3 or 4 times before and has played guitar with some folks there. That also meant we usually got premium seats near the musicians’ table 😎
I’m definitely determined to keep practicing with my anglo-concertina, and who knows, maybe I will also join a session next time.
